About Wiser Now, Inc.
Wiser Now, Inc., a multi-media training company focused on living and aging well, is an outgrowth of Kathy Laurenhue's earlier company, Better Directions, Inc., which was incorporated in 1991.
In the 1990s Better Directions focused primarily on Alzheimer's disease and how to help both family and professional caregivers take effective care of themselves and the people who were dependent on them.
About Kathy
Throughout her life, Wiser Now CEO (Chief Enthusiasm Officer) Kathy Laurenhue has been known for her highly practical and invariably upbeat style that provides maximum learning in an enjoyable format. Even while teaching serious content, her goal is always to help people connect to one another by tapping into their sense of humor, their stories and their curiosity about the wider world
Kathy always aims to give credit where it is due.
- Her curiosity is a trait inherited from her father, which explains the wide scope of her brain fitness materials.
- From her ever-cheerful mother, Kathy inherited her desire to make light of all possible situations. (You can always cry later.) If you can find the funny side of anything, you have poked a ray of sunshine through the pervasive dark clouds overhead, and chances are, you will come up with a survival plan next.
- Her ideas come from an incredible number of people and places. She has been blessed with wonderful colleagues and mentors, and owns a wealth of games, puzzles and books. Both the people and the resources in her life are constantly expanding.
A brief resume of Kathy Laurenhue.
Elder Care Conversations is a series of self-contained, staff development modules created jointly with David Troxel, who is widely known for his “Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s Care.” The first topic area is “Amping Up Your Activity Programming.”
